Alabama Power Youth Football Clinic
Legion FieldYouth football players from Birmingham and the surrounding areas are invited to attend a free half-day football fundamentals clinic on Saturday, June 11 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at historic Legion Field. The Alabama Power Youth Football Clinic presented by Coca-Cola and hosted by the Birmingham Bowl is open to the first 200 youths, ages 8-13, to register online. Participants are required to bring a signed waiver on the day of the clinic. UAB football coach Bill Clark and his coaching staff will lead the clinic, giving attendees the opportunity to participate in on-field agility drills and offensive and defensive training. Each attendee will receive a compimentary T-shirt, lunch and two tickets for the 11th annual Birmingham Bowl on Thursday, December 29.

4th Annual Big Green Eggs in the Ham

Cooking teams from the Birmingham area will unite to raise funds for Easter Seals services, drive awareness of issues affecting the disability community, and change the lives of individuals and families living with disabilities. This event is a family fun-day that includes: Cooking Competition, Cooking Demonstrations, Food, Beer, games, and Giveaways. Event Details: • Saturday, June 11th at Regions Field • Cooks sign in and set up at 7:00am • Lighting of the Egg kicks off at 8:00am • Food will be available all day. Just walk around from Egg to Egg and don't forget to vote for your favorite! On January 01, 1863, President Lincoln delivered the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared that all persons held as slaves are, and henceforward shall be free. Due to the really slow information flow those days, the news received Texas not until June 19, 1865. Informally Juneteenth was celebrated annually since 1865, but on June 03, 1979 Juneteenth became an official state holiday in Texas. Juneteenth is a day to celebrate freedom and cultural diversity.
