NextGen Code of Conduct Form

Welcome to the NextGen Student Fellowship! As a participant, you are part of a diverse community committed to academic excellence, leadership, and personal growth. To ensure a positive experience for all fellows, this Code of Conduct outlines the behavior expectations during your fellowship.
By signing this document, you agree to adhere to these standards and uphold the integrity of the NextGen Student Fellowship program.

Respectful and Inclusive Behavior

  • Treat all members of the fellowship, staff, and external partners with respect, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, or ability.
  • Discriminatory, harassing, or bullying behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Maintain a collaborative spirit and support fellow participants in their academic and personal growth.

Professionalism and Leadership

  • Fellows are expected to work ten (10) hours per week for seven (7) weeks from October 28 – December 13, 2024.
  • Fellows are expected to demonstrate professionalism during all fellowship-related events, including seminars, workshops, and networking opportunities.
  •  Dress appropriately for events where professional attire is required.
  • Punctuality is expected for all meetings and activities.

Ethical Conduct

  • Fellows are expected to uphold honesty, accountability, and transparency in all fellowship-related work.
  • Confidential information shared during the fellowship must be respected and not disclosed without permission.

Substance Use and Wellness

  • The use of drugs, alcohol, or other substances that impair judgment or violate university policies is strictly prohibited during fellowship events.
  •  Fellows are encouraged to prioritize their well-being, seek support when needed, and maintain a healthy balance between academic and personal life.

Disciplinary Procedures

  • Any violation of this Code of Conduct may result in a formal review by the fellowship administration.
  • Disciplinary actions may range from a verbal warning to removal from the fellowship, depending on the severity of the violation.

Media Release Form

I, the undersigned, hereby grant permission to the City of Birmingham its representatives, and employees the right to take photographs, videos, and audio recordings of me and use these in any and all media, including print, digital, and social media platforms, for promotional, educational, or other lawful purposes. I understand that my image or voice may be used without compensation, and I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product where my likeness or voice appears. I release the City of Birmingham from any liability related to the use of these materials.

Acknowledgment and Agreement

I, the undersigned, acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to abide by the Code of Conduct outlined above. I understand that any breach of this agreement may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the fellowship.
