Thunder on the Mountain 2015 will once again illuminate the skies above Birmingham's beloved iron man, Vulcan. Free to the public, this year's show will last approximately 20 minutes and will feature a variety of firework shells that will brighten the sky with new colors and patterns. The show will be choreographed to a musical soundtrack that will feature a mix of patriotic favorites and popular musical performances.

The Rickey Smiley Foundation Birmingham Alive Back to School Rally will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 2pm-6pm at Legion Field located at 400 Graymont Ave W, Birmingham, AL 35204. This event is free and open to the general public. Birmingham Alive is a back to school event created to bring families and children together for an afternoon of family entertainment, games and recreational sporting activities. Birmingham Alive will be hosted by Rickey Smiley and the event will prepare children for the new school year by providing free school supplies to the first three hundred school aged children present.
