The City of Birmingham Mayor’s Office Division of Youth Services’ (DYS) Kids and Jobs Program is returning for the 2021 Summer. The program cultivates the professional development necessary for youth and young adults to become an integral part of the workforce. This year, DYS Kids and Jobs – Navigate Your Future Program will provide a hybrid of virtual and limited in-person job opportunities and virtual work-based learning, giving students an “earn and learn” experience on a digital learning platform. This platform, called LRNG, provides career readiness training and helps students develop 21st-century skills necessary to enter the workforce. In addition, DYS will also still offer limited on-site work experiences. The City of Birmingham is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and will make changes as necessary under CDC and city guidelines to best protect all participants in the Kids and Jobs program.
